VOLVO A25C from STAHL / LEIMBACH - Version Alokocat

• Hi all,

Last year I bought the Stahl Laderaupe and I've got much pleasure running the kit, moving dirt all around the garden

Last month I went to TTM Modellbau once again to buy a new model, perfect companion for my loader, the Stahl Volvo A25C.

I started building the kit and I will post photos later but first of all I wanted to ask you german friends if someone could translate a few words from german to english..or french :" title="Danke"> Google translator did a very bad job by the way enk:" title="Denken">

I know by looking at picture you can do a lot but as faras hydraulic and electric there is not much to understand by looking at photo.

So here are the sentence I really need to understand to avoid big mistakes :

"
VOLVO DUMPER -A25C - from Stahl modellbau.

Your help is really appreciated and I hope it will help others too...

:Danke1:

• Hi Dimitri,

wow, there's a lot to translate. I don't speak french but i'll try to write the manual in english.

PAGE 14
If you bought the hydraulic-kit too its usefull to install the steering actuators now.
The actuators have to be equipt with hoses. Cut them 8cm beyond the end of the actuator.

Note: The locking divices can be easily installed by stretching the hose (pull the end)

Mount the zylinder brackets so, that the ports face togehter. With Allenkey-bolts type M3x4 and washers the brackets get mounted to the aft Pistonends.
(without a picture or the parts its hard to understand i guess..)

PAGE 15
Mounting the Engines to the fwd undercarrige:
remove the gearbox from the motor by loosening 3 Phillipsbolts

The 2nd bolt from behind at the lower floorboard has to be rotated CCW until it is flush with the nut.
now the motors can be installed.
Please note that one of the gearbox fastening threads must point to 12 o'clock position.

to be continued...

:Winker:

• PAGE 16
install the gearbox
note that the gearshaft has be at 6o'clock position.

Install the cabin sidewalls by unsing just 1 bolt per part at this time

Install the hingebolts for the cabin door

for mounting the fenders come stiffeners and angles with the kit.

the marks on the wheelwell bracket must point fwd.

PAGE 31
installation of steering actuators explained allready in chapter "fwd untercarrige"

install the clevis to the tip cylinder by using Allenkeybolts M3x6 and self locking nuts.
install hoses DIA 3mm and lockingdivices to the actuator. cut the hose from the actuator base angleport to 8cm, at the actuator head cut the hose to 14cm

the preassemblied actuators ar ready for installation to the dump body.

:Winker:

• PAGE 32
root the hoses to the t-port as shown on the picture. use locking devices.

fix the hoses to the undercarrige with doubleloop clamps and phillipsbolts M2x10.

root the hoses from the t-ports via the outer grommets behind the cabin to the fwd bumper.

prepare the carrier (plate for the hydraulic unit) as follows:

install grommets 4.8 to holes DIA 8mm
install brass bushing 5x3x3 to the opposite grommets. this becomes the mount for the pump.

dejam (interferrence suppression) the the pump-motor by soldering capacitors to the cables.

Same style like on the drivemotors

Note: there are ferrit-rings availabe in the kit. in case of interferrences during operation root the cables for motor powersuply
through the rings by 2 windings (Respect Motor-Rules!!)

PAGE33
install the pump to the carrier by 2 phillips bolts 3x9 and washers.

prepare the valveblock as follows:

cut the servohorns and install on the pilotvlave (disc-excenter) (some force needed)

adjust your servos to 0° (check your radio control, set all values to std.) and install it using 2 M2.5x8 bolts to the valveblock.

remove the handwhells from the valve block now.

• Harry,

I dont know how I can thank you because I know it's very much to translate !

:D:

Ill read everything carefully after work and report back here. This is just great :DD:

Dimitri

• Hi Dimitri,

no matter, you're welcome! Its funny to test my english :) To write a propper Manual in english it would be helpful to have a kit of this Dumper. Its sometimes very hard to explain what is ment when you rather know the part than know about the style, Stahl ist constructing his Models. As you quickly will notice, i didn't translate word by word, more i tried to keep it simple and discribe the way in a manner i know from the manuals i use in my buisiness. But still i try to keep the lines as they are in your post, so that you can compare it, if something is unclear.
Looking forward to have the transation finished before you come to point i stopped ;)

Greez, Harry.

:Winker:

• Harry,

this is the second STAHL model Im building, well the first one someone helped me a lot actually as I couldnt read german and I had never built a RC + electric + hydraulic model.

so, for my second model Im trying to do all by myself (well in fact I live in Ivory Coast and nobod could help me here LOL) and Im trying to figure out the manual to gather informations.

But...

In the manual there is only poor black and white pictures, low resolution.
No indication about electronic or electric wiring !

In fact This is the only downside from buying from them because their model (as far as i know) or very good quality and very well designed.

that's why Im so glad you could help with translation, Ill try to organise your translation with pictures, this way people coud use it in the future.

Dimitri

• Hello Harry,
I guess you've been busy recently and I dont want to be rude or anything but I'd like to know if you had the occasion on doing some more translation for me please.

Work has resume on the dumper, I've finished the rear part (including painting) and I hope to have the cabin finished next WE. after that Il have to go on with the hydraulics and electric system but Im waiting for a missing piece from the kit that Stahl should send my way.

Siome pictures soon.

Dimitri

• Hi Dimitri,

you're right, i was very busy the last days and traveling a lot, but as promised, today i'll continue the translation. Will you post some fotos of the actual progress please!?

PAGE 34

install a grub screw M3x8 to the filterelement, put a washer on it (as a spacer, i guess)

install the filter to the lefthand thread at the front of the valveblock.
install a hose (DIA 4mm) with a lenght of 8cm to the "P" Angleport of the filter,
an other hose (6cm long) to the other "T" Port.
the sideport gets a hose with 15cm lenght, this is the Px Port from the Pump. Cut hoses with 14cm lenghts each and connect them to the big, lefthand ports a+b on the valveblock.

Assemble the valveblock-filterassy to the hydraulicmountingplate with a countersunk screw M3x5.

Connect hose "P" from the filter to the pump.
connect hose "T" from the valveblock to the Pumpport "T"
Secure all the 4mm hoses (pump, valve and Filter) with the propper lockingdevices.

last page follows...

Install the hydraulic unit to the dumper, the hatch has to be removed for that.

the hyd. unit looms in to the enginge bay by aprox. 1cm.

connect the DIA 3mm hoses from the tipactuators to the r/h, smaller ports a+b of the valveblock and secure them.
connect short pieces of hose to the ports on the hyd. tank.
ne of these is for filling the tank, the other is the breather.

Now to up the tank with hyd.fluid. Bleed the system by full motions of all actuators and check the fluidlevel frequently, refill as necessary.

only use the hyd. fluid provided by us!

The End!

Kindly,
Harry.

• Hallo Werner,

SG, Harry.

:Winker:

• Thanks Harry !

Ill post pictures of the dumper, it's still a work in progress but thanks to you it's getting closer to finish every week !

Here is the rear main part of the dumper :

This piece is different from the manual :

Im still trying to figure out how to build the support rubber plate :

I was not sure it was ok at the time, since then I've seen pictures and it looks like it's ok (my pictures) but i's a lot different from the manual.

For the dump box I struggled with this piece :

But i had to unbuilt then to slighlty cut the piece below

Then normal as the manual:

Then I attached the first piece, it was a lot easier this way :

Ready to see the painter :

Dimitri

• And here is the dumpbox after the painting :

With the rubbers (I since have used the black screws to fix them).

Here are the front hydraulic cylinder :

I guess the following schema is ok for the direction cylinders :

You guys will probably go mad looking at the next picture :

Yes I found this part drying on the air less than 30cm from the ground....a sandy ground...if there was some wind Ill have killed the painter..!

Im setting the Hydraulics "T" for the direction.

I had to change the following part to point in the up direction

Im preparing the motors with the electrical parts:

Then it was my first soldering...ever...

Let me know if you see somehting bad...

Not much space inside the tubes, I hope it wont overheat, but as far as I've read in your forum nobody reported a heat issue with the dumper.

First motor :

Trying to figure out how to do the elctrical thing !

One picture to see the color difference with the Liebherr track loader:

Dimitri

• Ok, Im now at this point :

I still need to work on the front cabin, do some hydraulic and electric test but Im waiting for Stahl to sedn me a missing part (the hydraulik plate) from the kit. Problem is I live in west africa and nobody could ship to my place !
So Ill wait until a couple of weeks to go in europe and take this occasion to get the plate. It will leave me some time to finish the cabin body anyway...

Thanks again for your help Harry, this is really appreciated.

Dimitri

• Hi Dimitrti,

you've done a very good job so far! Also the soldering looks good, a functional test will discover every mistake ;) The paintcoat is good, it seems, that the painter has a lot of experiance with his special african style paintbox :)
Good luck!

Greets,
Harry.

:Winker:

• Hallo Alokocat!

Youre modell is very nice! It looks very great!

But I wondered that you don't fill the heads of the srews before painting!

I hope you will show us more pictures about your progress may!

Best wiches!

Patrick!

:DD: :respekt:

• Hi all,

I've had some time this evening to get back on track...hmm I mean get back to build the dumper

I ran into a problem when trying to figure out how to place the 2 front motors :

Cliquez ici pour voir mon image

I couldnt really understand the following sentence :

"PAGE 15
Mounting the Engines to the fwd undercarrige:
remove the gearbox from the motor by loosening 3 Phillipsbolts

The 2nd bolt from behind at the lower floorboard has to be rotated CCW until it is flush with the nut.
now the motors can be installed.
Please note that one of the gearbox fastening threads must point to 12 o'clock position."

If someone could explain I would be grateful, because so far I couldnt place the 2 motors inside the front part :

I need help :bitte:

have a nice evening,

Dimitri.

Dimitri

• Hi Dimitri,

hm, as far as i can see, you don't have enough space to put the 2nd motor in place!? I'm not sure if i saw that right, but if you loosen the upper bolts of the sidewall (there is a thread in the angle, not a nut on each bolt?) you should be able to bend it a little outboard, just to put the engine's pinion through the hole, including its mountingplate. Be advised, that your first try to install the mountingplate without the motor was wrong, because none of the threads was pointing 12 o'clock, there was one at 6 o'clock.

I realy hope that you can fix that!

Harry.

:Winker:

Harry,

I have to questions / problems :

First of all I dont understand what is meant by :
"
The 2nd bolt from behind at the lower floorboard has to be rotated CCW until it is flush with the nut.
now the motors can be installed. "

It's not your translation, it's my english which is rather limited when speaking about technical stuff. enk:" title="Denken">

Second question is that I can find the place to place both motors, but as you said, I will retry following your advise.

Now when you say:
"Be advised, that your first try to install the mountingplate without the motor was wrong, because none of the threads was pointing 12 o'clock, there was one at 6 o'clock."

would you please tell me which pictures do you refer to ?

Once again thanks for your help, much appreciated
